BRCGS award for Barnes’ food logistics delivery
Barnes Logistics’ latest quality award sees it achieve BRCGS certification for its safety focus in managing food storage and distribution.
The award, which follows a rigorous audit, reflects the high quality of operations at the company’s Rochdale headquarters.
Barnes Logistics stores and transports ambient products and packaging for food retailers and restaurant chains. Its clients include a string of household names.
“Our aim is always to deliver a safe, reliable service that our clients can depend on,” said operations director, Ross Macleod.
“We’re extremely proud of our track record and very pleased to achieve BRCGS, which confirms that we’re taking a best-practice approach.”
BRCGS (British Retail Consortium Global Standards) is the leading Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) scheme.
Certification is specifically designed for logistics operations dealing with food, packaging, and consumer products.
Developed with input from industry, the standard focuses on the quality and safety of products during their storage and distribution throughout the supply chain.
Barnes Logistics’ other quality accreditations include ISO 9001, Cyber Essentials, the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS), the Fertiliser Industry Assurance Scheme (FIAS) and Section 5 for defence-related logistics activity.
