Taking Part In Veganuary On The Road – Tips & Tricks
Now its January again, many of us are using the new year to clean up our diets and start eating healthily. Many of us here at Barnes, both on the road in the office, love to participate in the Veganuary trend, pledging to go 31 days without any animal products.
Although for many of our drivers, participating in all the hype can be a little difficult when you’re out on the road. Not to fret, as our team have come up with some fabulous ideas on how to prepare and conquer Veganuary whilst trucking.
Without further ado, let’s go vegan! Here’s our advice…
1. Prep Your Meals
Meal prepping your meat-free meals this month will help make this January a breeze! From truck snacks to entire meals to eat on the go, planning your meals for the week is the easiest ways of conquering Veganuary.
Although we know trucking can be time consuming, so if cooking ahead isn’t an option, or you’d prefer something warm, plan your route – there are always great stop offs with vegan alternatives – have you tried the Greggs Vegan sausage rolls, for example?
2. Make Small Changes First
Veganuary isn’t about cutting out all the things you love, it’s all about making small changes that you can then incorporate to your daily living!
We know on the road it’s important to grab a treat to keep you trucking, so cutting out your favourite delights is an unrealistic goal.
Why not opt for a plant-based alternative for your morning coffee, or vegan sausage on your breakfast bap? These small changes won’t affect your normal routines and adds something different to your day.
3. Try New Things
Opting to go for the vegan-alternatives for some of your favourite foods will help you stay on track this month if you are trying Veganuary. Temporary diet changes are an excellent opportunity to try new things, and you never know, you might love them.
You don’t even have to ditch the takeaways this month either, many of our favourite fast-food chains like McDonalds, Greggs and KFC have added vegan options to their menu. Why not branch out and give them a try? Some say they can’t even taste the difference!
4. Get Your Friends Involved
If you’re taking part in Veganuary, and it’s your first-time going plant based you’ll need all the support to help you along the way. Why not get your friends and other drivers involved? Giving each other support to complete the journey by giving tips and even sharing food inspiration is one way of making the month a lot easier.
